BLOWDRYING

BLOG

“Blowdrying is so important,” said Grady King, the stylist and colorist who conceived Global Blowdrying Competition. “It can make or break a look.”

He should know.

When he was just starting out in Beverly Hills, he did only blowdries. Many stylists at that  salon would send clients to Grady for their blowdry resulting in ome clients would see him three to four times a month just for a blow out.

“I could blowdry every stylist’s work better than they could,” he says.

Over time, Grady built a reputation rapport with the clients. And when the original stylist was too busy or not at the salon, the clients trusted King enough to get him to do a  trim.

“And then when that trim looked great, and the blow dry was fantastic,” he says, “all of a sudden, their  clients began preferring my work. And that’s how I really got started.”

the coworkers eventually caught on and didn’t want any of their clients to sit in his chair, but it was too late- the reputation of the quality of his work was out

Why?

They knew Grady’s chair was like the Bermuda Triangle.

“Once you sat there, you never made your way back out,” he says.

And that’s no surprise.

Clients have cried after seeing their new look.

“I’ve never had my hair look this good,” they would tell him.
