ABOUT US

The Global Blowdrying Competition was designed to focus attention on the power of a blowdry to take a look to the next level.

After 37 years in the industry as a colorist and stylist, GRADY noticed a lack of creativity or effort going into blowdries. This struck him as odd.

Since a great blowdry is the final creative point for a color or cut, why aren’t the people in the industry paying more attention to the art of blowdrying?

Both new and seasoned stylists need to sharpen or freshen their skills.

After all, a good blowdry comes from a skilled professional. To get that skill, you need to put some work into it.

Everyone should be aware of the possibilities of improving their blowdrying skills.

Knowing your skill level, recognizing your skills, and continuously improving are all part of the creative process. And the blowdry is a key part of that.

This competition was created to highlight how you can compete with yourself and with others in the industry. And if the client loves their look, everyone wins.

The Global Blowdrying Competition is the brainchild of GRADY, a hair stylist and colorist, whose work has been featured in fashion magazines like Vogue, Harpers, Allure, Elle, and Glamour. His hair designs for runway models have appeared at DKNY and Versace fashion shows in New York City.

Grady has worked in Beverly Hills, Washington, D.C., and Miami for 37 years. For 20 of those years, he styled hair at Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon in Washington, DC. Washingtonian magazine and Ocean Drive magazine have recognized Grady as one of the top stylists in DC and Miami.
